She whispered barely louder than a breath
What if I am meant for something else?
The rain dotted the windows every few seconds
Leaving thin trails of water streaking downward in its wake.
She closed her eyes and imagined…
Adventures in faraway places
Speaking in front of large crowds
Lovers and connections spanning time and space
Knowledge of many varied subjects
Foreign tongues encoded within her mind
The freedom to just exist and learn to her heart’s content.
An exhale, followed by the slow fall of her chest.
Eyes opened to the people around her
Conversing with others, reading books in solitude.
The imaginings of her mind, only fantasies.
Still, the potential lies dormant, ready to awaken
At the moment she believes they already exist.
She returns to her work, sips her coffee,
And she never hears the universe respond,
You are meant for everything you desire.
