September is here! Although it’s still hotter than hell and feels nowhere close to Fall, we can feel that Summer is soon for a transition. We are in the last month before diving headfirst into the last quarter of 2023. Do you find yourself feeling reflective? Looking at what you have accomplished so far this year, and what you still are aiming to complete before the clock strikes midnight? This reflection can be a bit anxiety-inducing for sure, but it can also fill you up with excitement and hope. You are not running out of time. You are exactly where you are supposed to be.
Take a few moments to thank yourself for all the things you have accomplished this year. Maybe you started a new job, moved to a new city, started dating again, reached a financial savings goal, or traveled somewhere brilliant that’s been on your bucket list for eons. Be grateful to yourself and the people who have helped you along the way this year. Feel the joy and confidence that naturally come with keeping promises to yourself.
After you have had a chance to pat yourself on the back and feel some gratitude, take a bit to reflect on which goals are still in-progress, or need a bit more of your attention. Now is the perfect time to review what you set out to do this year and evaluate how you’re stacking up. Where can you improve? Where can you lean in a bit more, and where can you let go?
There is no perfect time to create goals and plan how you’re going to achieve them. However, I do find it helpful to do so at the beginning of a new month, a new moon, or a full moon. And after you review your goals, take time to envision them coming to fruition. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and feel what it will be like to accomplish anything left on your list for 2023. Let the joy fill up in your chest, feel the satisfaction of living the life that aligns with your purpose, and release any resistance to letting your desires play out. Hear your boss telling you the promotion and pay raise is yours. See the house of your dreams as you unpack your belongings into your new home. Taste the cuisine of your dreams as you imagine enjoying a meal off the coast of a city you have always wanted to visit. Feel the physique you have been diligently sculpting with love for your body. There are no limitations to your desires, as long as they are for your highest good and the highest good of others.
If you need a bit more guidance as you reflect, below are some journal prompts to get you started. You can write out pages on these topics, or one sentence. You can reflect in your mind, type out your thoughts in a phone note, or grab a good ol’ fashioned journal and pen. Happy reflecting, and cheers to your growth this month!
(1) What goals have I accomplished already that I set out to complete in 2023? How can I show myself and others gratitude for helping me accomplish these goals?
(2) What goals need my attention right now? Which goals can I recommit to, if they are still of interest to me?
(3) What is one thing I can do each day to help bring me closer to any goals I still would like to meet in 2023?
(4) Where can I find time in my day, or even once a week, to sit and envision my goals coming to fruition?
(5) Simply thank yourself. Give yourself a big hug and whisper, “Thank you. I love you. I am so proud of you.”
With love,
Kayla
