She always found herself waiting for it.
It wasn’t here yet, but it was on its way.
Would it arrive in a horse drawn carriage?
Would it be carried to her by a curious stranger?
Would it come like a present, wrapped with a bow?
She wondered, sighing with her chin placed
Delicately in her soft palm.
A thought perked her head right up
And she lifted off the seat where she perched.
What if it wasn’t something one waits for?
What if it was something one creates?
Not a gift to receive, but rather a gift to give?
And it was in that moment, she knew.
Happily ever after was already here,
For she could feel it all around her.
Happily ever after was evident in the sunrise
Followed by beautiful days
Spent with good friends and family
Following her passions
Balanced with keeping her responsibilities.
Happily ever after was alive in small moments
Like the scent of a fresh rose
The little run of a puppy learning to use his legs
A good song that makes you want to dance
And a warm cozy bed at night.
Happily ever after was not on its way.
It was already here, and here it would stay
As long as she remembered
To always cherish each and every day.
