It is a universally acknowledged truth that human beings hate change (or at least we avoid change unless it becomes the only option). We also know that change is natural. We see the seasons change around us, we feel our thoughts and feelings toward certain situations and people change over time, and in the modern world, we see how quickly trends change in pop culture. And even though we know that change is natural, we resist. Some of us shut down and ignore our phones, friends and family. Others of us go into a binge-watching spiral, only to come out days later with an ever-present gnawing in our gut. Instead of flowing with the waves of change, we fight like hell against it.

But have you ever noticed the little voice in your head that speaks up sometimes? It whispers to you, “why don’t you try a new way,” or it says, “why don’t you say yes this time?” Those little nudges can so easily go ignored. Sometimes it is fear that holds us back, or anxiety around certain social situations, or a complacency to just stay comfortable. If we ignore the higher part of ourselves encouraging us to try something new, we will miss all the little gateways always opening up new paths for us to try.

This week, take some time to think about where your higher self is nudging you to make a change, and try opening your eyes to seeing if there are gateways around you presently unseen. How can you uncover those gateways? Can you unlock the gate and take a new path? Will you be daring and bold enough to try?

Journal prompts for the week ahead:

  • What opportunities am I saying yes to?
  • What opportunities am I saying no to?
  • Are the gateways around me open or closed? Am I being honest with myself about why or why not I am choosing to walk through them?
  • What new gateways will open for me if I choose to follow the path of hope rather than the path of fear?
  • Do I listen to the little voice in my head urging me to try a new path; or, do I ignore it?

With love,

Kayla
