The world looks a bit topsy-turvy –
All days ending in the letter y blend
Together into a rumble-tumble
Rolling down the hill like we did as children.
The calendar has lost all sense
Of meaning and purpose and structure
And I find myself wandering, wondering,
Into a tomorrow that feels like yesterday.
Dreams of once upon a time and
Once upon a dream dancing
Through the green foliage
Waking from a long slumber to rise.
A modest home to the untrained eye
Ignorant of the radiant love inside
I welcome the visions of my family
The ones not yet here with me.
For I yearn to make a house a home
To find the one
To stay young with
Whilst we grow old.
The world may never be the same
But for this small, crucial moment
I will leave the worries and the fear
I will remind myself that love lives here.
In this little apartment
Alone in my bed at night
In the present moment
Love lives here.
